I'm Siobhán or Shiv/Shivers........ or SIGH-O-BAN/C.O.B-HAN as I'm going to have to get used to being called all over again once we get to New Zealand!
(And in case you're wondering, there is an old Zealand, its in Holland-where they just call it Zealand original recipe)
We'll also be having a 6 week holiday around SE Asia on the way to NZ.
The we-by the way is me and my travel companion is Eleanor, an old friend from Naas (*old in the sense that I've known her a long time, youth wise she is a spring chicken)(*not actually a chicken- she's a real girl).
People have asked me when I started planning this trip or when I decided to go, well the truth is that when myself and Eleanor were about 13/14 we both had older sisters that were/had been backpacking in Oz and decided that when we were finished school we would go and do the same.So things don't always go exactly according to plan and we're now 25 going on 26 (well I am :) chicken girl is 25)instead of 18. Aside from the fact that there's no way in hell we would have been allowed to go at 18, things got in way like college and work and all the rest, but we got round to it eventually and we can't wait, it's going to be so much fun... or maybe we'll end up killing each other, either way we'll have an adventure along the way!
Oh and we're going to find Brett and Jemaine from Flight of the Conchords, so I named the blog partly after their song and well I could say I was being cool and named it after of the musical trend in the mid-1990s of down tempo electronic music that grew out of the British hip hop and house scene and was popularised by acts such as Massive attack and Portishead-(thanks wikipedia!!!)....But eh......mostly it's because Im going on a trip which rhymes with the first part of the word hippopotamus..... (its a play on words you see)

Interestingly enough Eleanor played me a portishead tape when we were about 12, I think I preferred Whigfield at the time unfortunately.......perhaps thats not interesting - either way read the blog, hopefully that will be!!!
